Mort-Ant Co. was founded in 1890, by William Hughes, at which time he was residing in an old timber home on the northern side of Tom Ugly's Bridge in the southern suburbs of Sydney. His motivation for forming Mort-Ant Co. was self-interest and a determination for himself to succeed in eradicating termites (white ants) which he found eating him out of his own home!

He made a formula of Arsenic Dust and soap to treat his Termite problem, which he applied, to the affected areas by using a bicycle pump.  This method worked so well that he decided to market his chemical formula throughout Australia.  He called the product, " Mort-Ant Termite Poison" and sold it in small tins.

Mr Hughes sold the company to the Taylor family of Sydney in the early 1930's and Mr & Mrs Taylor ran the business until 1952 when they sold it to Mr Tas Mcgee. Mr Mcgee incorporated Pest Reports into the business and he built the company up to a stage where they were known to produce more Pest Reports  than any other Pest Control Company. Their clients numbered over 300 solicitors and they carried out at least 10 Pest Inspections a day.

I, Mr Paul Smith, bought Mort-Ant Co. in 1982 and I have continued to diversify the business.  We now offer Building and Pest Inspections, Pest Management to commercial and domestic properties, Physical Termite Barriers on building sites and we also provide a sanitation service for businesses.
